IETM, the longest standing and most important European performing arts network, is visiting Bergamo from 23 to 26 April for its spring plenary session, returning to Italy after an eleven-year absence, on the eve of Expo Milano 2015. The Italian meeting has been organised by Associazione Etre, whose members include the many highly active theatre residencies in Lombardy.
Over the course of three event-filled days, the spotlight will be firmly on the main themes relating to the development of contemporary performing arts: the rebirth of creativity, connection with audiences, political engagement for organisations, financial sustainability and results assessment will be just some of the topics explored during the sessions.
As ever, the event will also involve three intense days of pure networking, during which artists, producers, programmers and organisations will make lots of new contacts, building new links and interactions. There will also be a carefully selected programme of performances and guided tours to Lombard theatre venues.
This is BAM!’s second visit to IETM following the debut in Montpellier last year. As always, we will be bearing the flag for Performing Gender, the European project for which we look after the communication on behalf of Gender Bender Festival. We will also be looking for interesting stories to bring back with us regarding good practice in management, communication and audience development for culture.
