Three lessons on digital transformation for museum professionals from across Europe.
BAM! has been selected by NEMO – the Network of European Museum Organizations to lead three lessons on digital transformation. The online sessions will focus on key topics essential for addressing the challenges of digital transformation with awareness and consistency:
- The first session, focused on museum strategy and digital transformation, aims to provide participants with tools to manage change processes by aligning strategic challenges and priorities with the opportunities offered by new technologies
- The second session focuses on the fundamental role of data and the importance of developing a data strategy to identify the most relevant information to use as resources for achieving one’s goals
- The final session will focus on sharing models for engaging audiences and stakeholders in the digital ecosystem
The sessions will alternate theoretical foundations and state-of-the-art context with the sharing of strategic frameworks, which will be put into practice during the final exercises. This approach will allow participating organizations to immediately begin reflecting on their current level of digital maturity, their key challenges, and the skills and capabilities needed to consciously select and adopt digital tools and solutions.
The goal is to ensure that digital technology becomes a resource capable of simplifying work and increasing organizational effectiveness, rather than adding an extra layer of complexity to manage.
Digital transformation is not a standalone project, but an ongoing journey of continuous innovation that every organization must navigate. BAM!’s approach stems from a clear principle: digital transformation does not start with technology, but with the organization’s challenges, the needs of the people within it, and the engagement of its stakeholders. Technology thus becomes a tool in service of broader change, which can encompass processes, services, organizational models, and relationships. Navigating this journey means understanding your starting point, identifying gaps and priorities, building a roadmap consistent with available skills and resources, and ultimately translating it into an action plan.
The new program consolidates the collaboration between BAM! and NEMO, which began with the workshop Audience Measurement in the digital Era that gave rise to the paper Connected Journeys: Holistic Audience Measurement in the Age of Digital by Casey Scott-Songin.
The initiative will involve professionals from museums and museum associations across various European countries, including Finnish Museums Association, National Museum of Ireland, Rijksmuseum, Swiss Museums Association, ICOM Switzerland – International Council of Museums, Verein ZOOM Kindermuseum and many others.
