Involving the Santarcangelo community in rethinking activities and services for the Museo Etnografico degli Usi e Costumi della Gente di Romagna

The Project

With the Partecipazione 2025 call for proposals, the Regione Emilia-Romagna is supporting local authorities and organisations in developing community engagement and participation projects.

The Line A winning project involves the MET – Museo Etnografico degli Usi e Costumi della Gente di Romagna (Ethnographic Museum of the Customs and Traditions of the People of Romagna), which is redefining its vision and the potential to enhance its spaces during its current renovation.

Why?

With the project “Cultura e comunità: verso il nuovo MET” (Culture and Community: Towards the New MET), FoCuS – Fondazione Culture Santarcangelo is initiating a participatory process that actively engages the local community and key stakeholders in jointly defining the vision, guidelines, functions and uses of the Museum and Meet spaces. The aim is to reinforce their role as dynamic cultural and social hubs within the local area.

How?

BAM!’s role is to support FoCuS in actively engaging communities and stakeholders, gathering their needs, visions and desires regarding the future of the MET and the Meet space.

The participatory process, designed and facilitated by BAM!,  involves three main phases:

  • Context analysis and stakeholder mapping
  • Engagement of local stakeholders and the wider community in the co-creation of a Manifesto for the MET, through exploratory walks and working groups designed to stimulate exchange among participant and uncover shared needs and opportunities for collaboration.
  • Final meeting to present the Manifesto and share the outcomes of the process
