IN-Ascolto is a listening, dialogue and professional development programme for senior managers at the Ministry of Culture. Running from 2025 to early 2026, it is organised by the Scuola Nazionale del Patrimonio e delle Attività Culturali in collaboration with the Direzione Generale Risorse Umane e Organizzazione and the Scuola Nazionale dell’Amministrazione. The aim was to develop a shared, up-to-date understanding of the Ministry of Culture’s training needs and the skills requiring further development, providing a stronger foundation for shaping future training policies. The process involved the entire management team, including both new and long-serving members, with the aim of supporting the organisation as a whole in addressing shared challenges across different contexts, working together in a unified way.

The Project
Why?
In a programme such as IN-Ascolto, simply collecting and analysing data is not enough. It is also necessary to create spaces for discussion that highlight experiences, priorities and perspectives, enabling needs and challenges to be translated into concrete training guidelines. This is where BAM! comes in, bringing expertise in participatory design, facilitation and the management of working groups.
How?
Following a series of consultation and co-design sessions with the Scuola Nazionale del Patrimonio e delle Attività Culturali, BAM! has:
- developed a questionnaire aimed at long-serving middle managers and analysed the results;
- planned and facilitated working groups and discussion sessions during a series of events: a two-day session in September at the Reggia di Caserta for newly appointed managers from the first competitive training course for technical managers organised by the Ministry of Culture and the 8th competitive training course of the Scuola Nazionale dell’Amministrazione; a two-day event in December 2025 at the Museo Nazionale Romano – Palazzo Massimo alle Terme for senior managers; and a final two-day session in January 2026 with long-serving middle managers, held at the Biblioteca Nazionale Centrale.
Through working groups, guided brainstorming sessions and plenary feedback sessions, BAM! helped gather qualitative insights, explore emerging needs in greater depth and develop a shared framework of priorities to support the Scuola Nazionale del Patrimonio e delle Attività Culturali’s training programme.
