A training course, workshops and publishing project for the eight winning organisations

The Project

Il Mito della Scrittura is a competition promoted by Fondazione CRC to promote writing as a means of expression, inclusion and community building. It has led to the selection of eight organisations working in the social and welfare sector, offering services and support to individuals and families in vulnerable or fragile situations.

Why?

The project requires particular care and attention not only in terms of operational and training aspects, but also in building a strategic vision of its impact and supporting the selected organisations on a path of empowerment and growth.

Within the framework of the initiative promoted by the foundation, a need emerged to support the selected organisations with a twofold objective: firstly, to raise awareness among participants of the expressive potential of autobiographical writing; and secondly, to assist the organisations themselves in acquiring practical tools for using personal and collective storytelling as a means of fostering relationships, social change and shared growth.

To translate these objectives into a structured, sustainable and impact-oriented programme, Fondazione CRC has engaged BAM!, which draws on its expertise in participatory design, public engagement and cultural facilitation within a process that adopts the autobiographical method as its principal approach to writing and as a tool for personal and community transformation within the social sphere.

How?

Among the project partners, BAM! has chosen to collaborate with two institutions recognised as leading authorities in the collection, preservation and promotion of autobiographical narratives, as well as in the application of autobiographical methods across diverse contexts: the Fondazione Archivio Diaristico Nazionale in Pieve Santo Stefano and the Libera Università dell’Autobiografia in Anghiari. These institutions are responsible for supporting organisations in the informed use of autobiographical writing as an educational, cultural and relational tool.

Through a training and workshop programme centred on the autobiographical method, institutional operators and their audiences are guided in narrating their own experiences in relation to places and communities, fostering new forms of individual and collective awareness. The stories that emerge from this process are subsequently shared with the wider public through participatory initiatives and the creation of a dedicated publishing series.

BAM! is involved in every stage of the project, playing a central role in its design, overall coordination and the development of its impact vision. Specifically, BAM! is responsible for:

  • Developing the impact vision and impact assessment through participatory methodologies and qualitative and quantitative measurement tools
  • Planning and implementing the training programme for operators from the eight selected organisations
  • Supporting organisations throughout the writing workshops to ensure methodological consistency and effective results
  • Planning public engagement activities, in collaboration with a selected artist, to translate the themes that emerge into collective and shared experiences
  • Establishing and coordinating a scientific committee to ensure methodological rigour and content curation
  • Supporting the final publishing project, from developing the concept for the series to drafting an integrated communication plan for its dissemination.
