Spazio Kor is a cultural project based in Asti that has been running since 2016. It was established to give the Piccolo Teatro Giraudi a new identity; the theatre is now operated by CRAFT within the deconsecrated church of San Giuseppe. Over time, it has established itself as a space for artistic experimentation, participation and accessibility, with a programme dedicated to contemporary theatre and an increasing focus on audiences with physical and sensory disabilities, as well as neurodivergent individuals. The impact assessment support programme forms part of the Space 2024 project, supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo.
A training and co-design programme to develop a framework for assessing the impact of Spazio Kor’s activities
The Project
Why?
The growth of Spazio Kor, its role as a cultural hub in the Asti area and its capacity to implement innovative and inclusive practices have made it necessary to establish a more robust framework for assessing, validating and communicating the value it generates. In a context where many cultural initiatives and approaches to accessibility and community engagement have become well established, partly thanks to KOR’s work over time, it was important to develop a framework consistent with the identity of the space, capable of linking objectives, values and tools for data collection and the reporting of results.
How?
For Spazio Kor, BAM! has created a programme combining methodological support for impact assessment with the development of in-house skills, with the aim of making impact assessment a practical, useful tool aligned with the organisation’s identity. The project began by establishing a shared framework based on the theory of change approach, clarifying which changes should be observed, how they should be interpreted and which tools should be used to report on them. On this basis, BAM! supported the team in developing an evaluation plan and refining the assessment tools, ensuring they were aligned with Spazio Kor’s values, objectives and practices. The process also included training and discussion sessions designed to embed a reflective, sustainable approach that could be integrated into the organisation’s day-to-day operations.
