The Museo della Ceramica in Savona and the majolica to be found in the local area will be this summer’s top social media stars on the riviera!
A few months ago we talked to you about the @52museums project, which the Savona-based museum will be taking part in from 29 August to 4 September: seven days to present itself through images and videos on Instagram, establishing a dialogue with the Museu del Disseny in Barcelona. That moment is about to arrive and, so as not to feel ourselves isolated at the helm, we here at BAM! have thought up a way to involve museum visitors in a collection of images on the theme of ceramics, both inside and outside the museum.
Savona and its province, first and foremost the Albissole, feature lots of beautiful ceramics that can be enjoyed in the great outdoors: a unique artistic heritage to be seen in alleyways, on buildings and in artifacts, summed up in the masterpieces, both little and large, on display at the Museo della Ceramica. In order to rediscover this widespread heritage, we have decided to hold a photography competition that will encourage museum visitors, local residents and tourists to play around with images and become ambassadors for the area.
Just take two photos (one inside the Museo della Ceramica and the other somewhere in the city or province) and post them on Instagram with the hashtag #2ceramics, or send them to concorso2ceramics@gmail.com. We will pick seven pairs of winning photos, which will have the honour of being featured on the @52museums Instagram account (that has gained over 10,000 followers in just a few months) during the week dedicated to this museum, from 29 August to 4 September.
The competition will remain open until 28 August, just before start of the #52museums week. Thanks to the invaluable assistance of Instagramers Savona, the competition’s media partner, we are aiming to create an explosion of colourful Ligurian ceramics on Savona’s social media networks over the coming summer months.
