A public meeting in Cesena to reflect on the central role played by libraries in the local cultural welfare system
Following ten days of events and initiatives to celebrate the opening of the third section of the Biblioteca Malatestiana in Cesena, BAM! Strategie Culturali is continuing to work with the Comune di Cesena on the organisation of the Rileggere le biblioteche – La centralità delle biblioteche pubbliche nel sistema di welfare culturale dei territori meeting, scheduled to take place on Tuesday 12 April from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the Aula Magna of the Biblioteca Malatestiana.
New spaces and new services make public libraries an increasingly central subject in people’s lives, catering to their cultural needs, as well as doing much more for some time now.
Libraries broaden people’s horizons, becoming acquired rights and civic centres where well-being and quality of life are promoted and achieved. As services open to and used by the public, they experience and absorb major socio-cultural changes taking place in their areas more than other cultural organisations, dealing with the evolution of cultural products and their use.
The round table will start with these reflections in order to gain an understanding of which new models can be used to tackle such complex changes and contexts?
After institutional greetings from Claudio Leombroni, Servizio Patrimonio Culturale Regione Emilia-Romagna, and Roberta Turricchia, AIB – Associazione Italiana Biblioteche (Regione Emilia-Romagna), some of the most significant experiences on a national level will be presented:
- Veronica Ceruti, Biblioteche di Bologna;
● Chiara Faggiolani, Università la Sapienza, Rome;
● Alfonso Noviello, Multiplo, Cavriago (Re);
● Liù Palmieri, Sistema bibliotecario di Milano;
● Maria Stella Rasetti, Biblioteca San Giorgio, Pistoia;
● Elisabetta Bovero, Biblioteca Malatestiana;
The meeting will be moderated by Francesca Lambertini from BAM! Strategie Culturali.
Participation is open to all interested persons. In order to attend the event, you need to have a so-called “enhanced green pass”, which is a COVID-19 Green Pass resulting from vaccination or healing, and to wear an FFP2 mask.
