Remote places and highlands: what regeneration is possible?

By 30 November 2022No Comments

Two webinars to present good practices from our peninsula’s (now no longer) forgotten villages, as part of the ‘Avanguardie a Ponente’ project

On 8 and 15 September, BAM! Strategie Culturali, along with its partners from the ‘Avanguardie a Ponente’ project, organised two webinars to listen to the stories and testimonies of those working to enhance, upgrade and develop the social fabric in difficult or remote contexts in Italy.

The programme

Cultural regeneration of villages and “highlands”

Thursday 8 September, 11:30 a.m.

During our first meeting we met with regeneration projects involving art, music and the participation of local communities. We started in the Marche region, with the Frontignano Art Walks project presented by Sineglossa, and then moved on to Friuli Venezia Giulia where Coop. Puntozero coordinates a group of partners in the Carnia area to run the Casamia Residences project, before finally coming to Emilia Romagna to talk to Articolture about the Lagolandia experience and the Scuola di Ecologia Politica in Montagna.

Territorial marketing for difficult lands: examples of storytelling and branding

Thursday 15 September, 11:30 a.m.

The second online meeting, also organised by BAM! with the support of DE.DE Destination Design, a business network created to respond to the new needs faced by tourist destinations, focused on the theme of territorial marketing to boost tourism and economic development in inland areas. We listened to the presentation of the Lecco – Land of Colors branding journey, described by Studiowiki, before moving on to neighbouring Piedmont with a project that won the In Luce competition, Riflessi, presented by Ideazione srl. We concluded with the Viaggio nel Gesso project, presented by the CEAS Circondario imolese and the Ass. Chiocciola La Casa del Nomade.

But the September events don’t finish here!

Indeed, Avanguardie a Ponente includes a packed programme of activities in the three villages of Boissano, Terzorio and Calice Ligure: the result of activities at the schools of citizenship, and moments of sharing with the local community to bring out stories and memories worthy of being remembered. Would you like to get involved? See the programme here.

BAM!, together with Associazione Amici di Casa Jorn, MiC-Soprintendenza ABAP delle province di Imperia e Savona, Fondazione Agostino De Mari and Dialoghi d’Arte, is a partner of ‘Avanguardie a Ponente’, a project supported by Fondazione Compagnia di San Paolo through the call for proposals ‘In Luce. Valorizzare e raccontare le identità culturali dei territori’, which we invite you to learn more about at www.avanguardieaponente.it or on this page on our website.
