A conference on museum teaching, education and innovation. BAM!’s plans for the Musei Civici di Reggio Emilia
In 2018, the Musei Civici di Reggio Emilia celebrated fifty years of its education department’s work with schools. This occasion provided a reason to celebrate with the city and organise a meeting of professionals working in museum teaching, education and innovation in order to encourage skill-sharing and the promotion of good practices. Furthermore, in view of the imminent opening of a new space in the Palazzo dei Musei, the Musei Civici di Reggio Emilia wanted to involve the local people in deciding what it would be used for, its features and opportunities for joint projects between different community groups.
BAM! Strategie Culturali was involved by the Musei Civici di Reggio Emilia right from the planning phase, offering its consultancy to help identify the format for the event and the activities to be included in the programme. The event was held over two days and BAM! developed the conference on the first day, designed to be a meeting between professionals focusing on interactive discussion, alternating keynote speeches with round tables.
BAM! also developed a network to support the institution in building the programme, mapping the potential parties to be involved and handling contacts. This resulted in a multidisciplinary programme with an international reach, establishing a dialogue between local professionals and key figures from other countries.
As regards communication, BAM! developed the event identity and graphics: from naming to copy writing, graphic identity and the visual design of the promotional materials.
