Planning and management of round tables with stakeholders and beneficiaries in the museum, archive and library sector, as part of accessibility training

The Project

As part of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan, the Scuola Nazionale del Patrimonio e delle Attività Culturali, in agreement with the Ministry of Culture’s General Directorate for Museums, is developing a training programme aimed at providing staff working in museums, archives, libraries and other cultural venues with the knowledge and tools to continuously improve accessibility and inclusion in facilities and services for visitors and workers with specific needs.

Why?

To ensure that this development process is participatory and open, with the aim of gathering requests, needs and points of view from stakeholders and people working in the cultural heritage sector, the  Scuola Nazionale del Patrimonio e delle Attività Culturali has included several opportunities for meeting, discussion and exchange in the planning process, including two days of discussions structured around visits and working group sessions.

How?

On 30 and 31 January, “Officina” took place at the Museo Nazionale di Ravenna and the Archivio di Stato di Ravenna – an initiative designed to present the project “Training Plan for Accessibility and Inclusion in Italian Cultural Institutions and Sites” and to actively engage stakeholders in shaping the training programme.

BAM! supported the Scuola Nazionale del Patrimonio e delle Attività Culturali in planning the activities for the two working sessions and organising the round tables, which were made up of representatives from federations, accessibility representatives for the regions, representatives from cultural institutions, representatives from the General Directorate for Museums, General Directorate for Archives and General Directorate for Libraries, professional associations and representatives from organisations working at a local level on accessibility projects.

BAM! subsequently facilitated the work of the groups and produced a final report, designed to accurately capture all the key aspects that emerged: project ideas, training needs, required skills and methods for reaching the target audience of the training programme.
