Analysis of the impact of live music in the cultural welfare project “Music Elisir”, which supports caregivers and promotes wellbeing through classical music.

The Project

Music Elisir, conceived by the Fondazione Toscanini and supported by the Fondazione Cariparma through the “Aver cura di chi cura” programme, is an initiative that combines music and wellbeing for carers of vulnerable people in the municipality of Parma and the surrounding areas. The project stands out for its focus on accessibility, including symphony and chamber concerts, music and yoga workshops, and transport services to overcome logistical barriers. Music Elisir takes an innovative approach to health, incorporating live music as a therapeutic experience and promoting a new perception of wellbeing.

Why?

The Fondazione Toscanini launched this project to address the specific needs of caregivers, an often overlooked group, providing them with moments of relief and connection through accessible cultural experiences. To fully realise the objectives of Music Elisir and maximise the impact of its activities, it was essential to involve BAM!, with the goal of developing a data collection plan aimed at measuring the positive effects of the initiative.

How?

BAM! supported the Fondazione Toscanini during three key phases of the Music Elisir project:

  • Connection: facilitating a collaborative workshop with the Fondazione’s staff, mapping audiences and identifying impact objectives for the main beneficiaries.
  • Planning: designing a tailor-made assessment plan, including the identification of indicators, tools and methodologies capable of measuring the impact of activities on wellbeing and access to culture.
  • Listening and promotion: conducting focus groups and interviews, analysing the data collected and drafting a final report documenting the results, highlighting the cultural and therapeutic impact of the project.
