La Baracca - Teatro Testoni ragazzi

Project date
2016

A new website and new learning platform for the European theatre network for early childhood

The project

At the beginning of 2016, BAM! teamed up with La Baracca – Testoni Ragazzi, one of the most important centres in Europe for the production and promotion of theatre and performing arts for children and young people. The company, which in 2016 will celebrate its 40th birthday, since 1995 has been managing the Teatro Testoni in Bologna and collaborates with spaces, seasons, schools and workshops inside and outside of the province.

Since 2005, La Baracca has been the the coordinator of Small Size, the most important European network of organizations working in theatre and performing arts for early childhood (0-3 and 3-6 years). The network, supported by the European Union through programmes such as Culture and Creative Europe, which provides a framework for partners to share their skills and expertise and develop joint projects or collaborate in research and training.

Why

The Small Size network wants to adopt a new web platform. On the one hand, there is the classic need to adapt web communication to current standards, for example by using mobile devices, and on the other hand, the function is twofold: to inform the public and external visitors about the variety of its partnership and work (events, productions) carried out over the first 10 years of networking, but also provide a wide range of partners, associates and employees with an operational tool that can be used for work, education and training.

How

BAM! and its web development partner, Craq Design Studio, are working on several fronts: creating content and co-designing a new site map, a new graphic layout and developing the front and back-end of the WordPress framework, but above all they are developing a learning platform capable of managing courses, a library and study texts, and an interior architecture that allows users to access the site, a wide range of individuals who have different relationships with the project who need to be able to access information and specific, assigned resources.
