More work on female empowerment and gender equality for the Regione Emilia-Romagna
When the Regione Emilia-Romagna approached BAM!, the concept was already well defined: to explore female empowerment through a podcast aimed primarily at younger audiences made up of teenagers and young people, a group that is often difficult to engage through traditional institutional channels and language.
Building on this intention, our team’s task was to translate an audience outreach goal into a concrete, coherent and accessible cultural project. We supported the development of an editorial format focused on that objective, defining its structure, tone of voice and narrative style, and involving people and expertise capable of shaping content that would be genuinely meaningful for those who listen – and watch.
Sarà capitato anche a voi. Storie di diritti e conquiste, al femminile (It will have happened to you too. Stories of women’s rights and achievements) is a five-part audio and video podcast that explores, through a range of voices and a collective approach, the complex issues surrounding female empowerment and gender equality, told through real stories and shared experiences.
Five things to know about making a podcast like this:
-
The audience is the starting point
The project’s main target audience is young people – a group often difficult to reach through institutional channels and language. We designed and developed a product both with them and for them, grounded in their everyday experiences.
-
When experts meet young voices: the value of real dialogue
Each episode features a female professional with expertise in the topic under discussion, joined by two young students who share their own perspectives and experiences. The conversation is open and balanced, guided by host Giacomo Venezia, who ensures space is given both to the voices of the young participants and to the insights of the expert.
-
A creative direction that creates meaning
Addressing complex issues also means finding a coherent way to communicate them. Drawing on our experience of working with the Department for Equal Opportunities in recent years, our team led the creative direction, developing a narrative thread and visual identity that connect the episodes and guide the audience through the series.
-
Relevant content in an accessible format
The topics – from freedom of choice over one’s own body to equal pay – were selected in collaboration with the Regione Emilia-Romagna through an ongoing process of discussion, drawing on years of partnership and attentive listening to the department’s communication needs. Our aim was not merely to tell stories, but to contribute to real change, giving voice to narratives that raise awareness, encourage reflection and listening, and inspire action towards genuine social transformation.
-
Professional, bespoke production
The podcast was recorded in the region’s audiovisual studio, with technical support and production management provided by Delizia Media, which also oversaw post-production for each episode in collaboration with the region’s information and communication agency. This approach ensured professional-quality content, with meticulously crafted audio and video elements, designed for enjoyment across multiple platforms.
In short, behind what may appear to be a simple podcast lies a great deal of teamwork: in-depth research, creativity, subject-matter expertise, active listening and audience engagement. Together, these elements create an authentic and inclusive dialogue across diverse perspectives and experiences. In this way, ideas become meaningful, participatory communication experiences that aim to inspire reflection and foster real change within the social fabric.
