A mentoring programme as part of the Interreg Europe JEWELS TOUR project for the promotion of tourism and culture in the area

The Project

The Comune di Ferrara is heading the Interreg Europe JEWELS TOUR project, which seeks to develop new policy recommendations for the digital enhancement of both tangible and intangible Jewish cultural heritage. This initiative involves public authorities, citizens and sector professionals, and encompasses the sharing of best practices alongside participatory meetings. Central to this process is the use of digital technology as a strategic tool for the conservation, protection and promotion of heritage.

Why?

The project brings together two complementary strands: a local plan, focused on identifying best practices for the digital promotion of culture, and an international plan, in which project partners engage in a structured discussion of the findings. The objective is to adopt a bottom-up approach to formulating recommendations for new local cultural policies, fostering ongoing dialogue between institutions, cultural and tourism operators, Jewish communities and companies working in the field of digital heritage technology.

BAM! is assisting the Comune di Ferrara in identifying and uncovering best practices in digital enhancement, ensuring the active participation of municipal stakeholders and a thorough analysis of the presented case studies. The team will also foster and facilitate dialogue at the local level, with the ultimate aim of drafting the aforementioned recommendations.

How?

BAM!, a company specialising in strategies for the digital enhancement of cultural heritage, plays a key role in facilitating the process and engagement at the local level, while supporting stakeholders in the identification of targeted case studies. In greater detail, it is responsible for:

  • Carrying out research and mapping best practices for the digital enhancement of heritage;
  • Planning and facilitating workshops and participatory meetings with local stakeholders and communities;
  • Planning and facilitating a training, co-design and networking programme on the topic of Digital Humanities for the enhancement and promotion of heritage, aimed at local entities selected through a public call;
  • Encouraging the involvement of regional policy makers to connect European visions and local strategies;
  • Supporting the drafting of a report and strategic recommendations to support future cultural and digital policies.
