Reporting on the think tank dedicated to the MEIS – Museo Nazionale dell’Ebraismo Italiano e della Shoah in Ferrara

The project

The Festa del Libro Ebraico (Jewish Book Festival) was held in Ferrara on Saturday 3 and Sunday 4 September 2016. The event organised by the Fondazione MEIS, with the patronage of the Ministry for Cultural Assets and Activities and the Regione Emilia-Romagna among others, was launched years ago to promote awareness of Italian Jewish culture. Debates, concerts, international conferences and meetings with writers, exhibitions and film screenings, a themed bookshop, an award, and guided tours, by day and night, of the MEIS building site.

Why?

Simonetta Della Seta, the new director of the MEIS, wanted to transform the 2016 Festa del Libro Ebraico into the first think tank for the new MEIS, Museo Nazionale dell’Ebraismo Italiano e della Shoah, involving directors of Italian and European Jewish museums.

It was also necessary to ensure the visibility and coverage of the event among specific audience segments, as well as among the local population in general. A digital strategy was drawn up to include content development for the official website and social media management for the MEIS Facebook page and Twitter account.

How?

BAM! came up with a shared publishing plan for content distribution and definition, starting from one month before the event. The texts and multimedia content were produced on the basis of the event programme:

  • to implement the dedicated section on meisweb.it, which attracted 13,000 views during the festival (+67% visitors)
  • to keep the social medial channels constantly updated and customise them with specific graphics, utilising the coordinated image of the Festa del Libro (over thirty posts published on Facebook)
  • to do live-tweeting during the event, which saw the launch of more than 120 tweets, channelling the contents through a single hashtag for all the initiatives – #libroebraicofe.
Monitoring Google Analytics and the social media accounts both during and after the event made it possible to get a very accurate picture of the results achieved by these activities.
