Strategic mentoring for the regeneration of Campolo

“Da Campolo – l’arte fa Scola”, is the pilot project of the National Village Plan for the Emilia-Romagna Region: a project aimed at regenerating a small village in the Bolognese Apennines, in the municipality of Grizzana Morandi.

The project’s main activities include: the creation of accommodation and facilities for young residents and tourists, the renovation of buildings of historical and cultural significance, the development of a cooperative village model with shared management of accommodation and services, the launch of advanced training courses, the promotion of sustainable tourism, and the creation of job opportunities within the village (including tourism, culture, training and start-ups).

The Municipality of Grizzana Morandi, at the head of the Steering Committee, entrusted BAM! with optimising the management of the resources put in place, implementing the series of planned activities and relations with the numerous stakeholders in the area, which a project of this importance entails.

BAM! is supporting the project’s steering committee in the strategic planning and implementation of the planned actions, with particular reference to activities related to intangible heritage (cultural services, training and educational services, entrepreneurship, active participation of current and potential residents, etc.).

BAM!’s coordination not only allows for an injection of expertise on cultural design issues, but also serves to keep the trajectory of the project vision on track, with a specific focus on the sustainability of facilities and services that will be put in place during this pilot phase.

BAM!’s technical input is even greater in some areas:

• Participation and co-design involving residents and stakeholders: a process to create a synergy with the village inhabitants and residents of neighbouring areas and involve them in co-designing community spaces, among other things.
• Strategic design of the Compendio del Palagio (near the Rocchetta Mattei), which once restored will become a cultural centre (production, artistic residences, spaces for local creativity, etc.). Initial analysis, implementation of testing activities and development of a management model that is sustainable, but still holds true to the original vision of the Campolo project.
