REEL – A cinematic journey through Italy and Croatia is a project funded by the Interreg Italy-Croatia programme. It involves six partners from across the two countries and is headed by the Fondazione Apulia Film Commission, with the Comune di Venezia as the partner responsible for creating a shared operating model. Over a thirty-month period, REEL is experimenting with itineraries, apps, audiovisual productions and pilot projects to promote lesser known places through cinema and encourage more sustainable, accessible and innovative tourism.

The Project
Why?
REEL is bringing different areas, skills and visions together, with a view to promoting cinema as a tool for imagining new forms of sustainable tourism in Italy and Croatia.
The partnership’s activities and results are being collected and transformed into a shared, user-friendly and replicable tool, ensuring that this wealth of knowledge is pooled and can be replicated in other areas. This has led to the need for a process capable of reading the context, identifying the areas’ good practices and requirements, and translating them into useful pointers for policy makers, tourism operators and cultural organisations.
How?
BAM! is working alongside the Comune di Venezia to create a shared method for transforming the results of the REEL project into an operating tool that can be accessed and used even after the project has finished.
It is also facilitating the collection and organisation of the partners’ contributions, which will culminate in the creation of a framework for policy makers, tourism operators, cultural organisations and other players involved in promoting cinematographic and local heritage.
