Museums: what social impact do they have?

By 27 January 2021December 23rd, 2022No Comments

“Musei: quale impatto sociale? Strategie e strumenti” – Day of discussion for Italian museum professionals on the social impact of museums – will take place on Monday 22 February 2021, from 10:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

This event, which will take place entirely online, has been organised by BAM! Strategie Culturali in partnership with Regione Emilia – Romagna and Istituzione Bologna Musei del Comune di Bologna, and is the first Italian event in the MOI! Museums of Impact project, supported by the European Union through the Creative Europe programme.

The Italian initiative aims to put itself forward as an opportunity for sharing and engagement revolving around the subject of social impact. A number of case studies will be presented by partners of the European MOI! Museums of impact project. The Finnish Heritage Agency will present its self-evaluation framework for museums, which acts as the starting point for developing a framework on a European level. Discussion tables will also be organised, during which the Italian museum professionals in attendance will be able to talk to each other and put forward their thoughts about the subjects on the agenda.

During the course of the day, the directors of a number of Italian museums will illustrate the strategies they are putting in place to maximise their social impact and will discuss matters with institutional representatives, sharing visions and putting forward potential new tools, while also taking into account the recent prospects issued by the Regional and National Museum System.

Participation is free. The morning will be a discussion between museum directors and operators open to all and live streaming on the Facebook page of BAM! Cultural Strategies and MOI! Museums of Impact. The afternoon is dedicated to the discussion tables for museum operators, to the exchange of opinions and the collection of feedback. The participation to the round tables is limited to 80 participants (*20 reserved to the Museums of the Emilia – Romagna Region). To register, please fill out this form by February 17, h 12.00.

All updates will be posted on the Facebook event.

“Musei: quale impatto sociale? Strategie e strumenti” is the second stakeholder forum in the MOI! Museums of Impact project. The first took place in Berlin on 10 November 2020, organised by the German partner Institute for Museum Research, Staatliche Museen zu Berlin for the German museum community. This event was also held online due to the critical situation caused by COVID-19, but it still proved a big success with ninety-three participants.
