Supporting the Comune di Bologna in promoting its Municipal Designation of Origin

The Project

The Comune di Bologna has established a Municipal Designation of Origin, a certification awarded to typical products from the Bologna area, such as food and traditional recipes, but also to specialist knowledge, crafts, cultural activities and events.

By becoming De.Co.-certified, products and knowledge will be included in a specific register and will benefit from promotional actions implemented by the Comune di Bologna.


Bologna’s identity is inextricably linked to the craftsmanship, products and cultural events that bring the city to life. De.Co. certification will allow the administration to enhance and protect Bologna’s many forms of identity even further.

BAM! supported the Comune di Bologna’s Culture Office in planning a brand launch campaign.


Starting from the logo selected following a call for entries by the Comune di Bologna, BAM! worked on the coordinated identity of De.Co. Bologna.

Following a strategic analysis (benchmarking, definition of objectives, targets and contents), BAM! developed a communication campaign, on the one hand targeting producers, craftspeople and shopkeepers in the metropolitan area and their representatives (citizen stakeholders), and on the other hand the people of Bologna themselves.

All the main campaign materials such as posters, promotional gifts, brochures and postcards have been produced. BAM! also oversaw the production of a promotional video designed to introduce De.Co. Bologna, the tangible and intangible heritage that is to be preserved through this brand and how it will enhance the many activities in the area. Finally, communication guidelines were also provided, including a media kit with initial editorial and graphic content for the municipality’s social media channels.
