Within the framework of Mission 1 – Digitisation, innovation, competitiveness, culture and tourism of the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNNR), together with the Università Cattolica, Associazione Giovanni Testori ETS, Fondazione Musica per Roma and Fondazione Kainòn ETS, BAM! has developed the Upskilling degli Archivi d’Arte e operatori 4.0 (UAA0) (Upskilling Art Archives and Operators) project: a 30-month training and capacity-building programme aimed at creating professional figures with strong digital skills capable of making a significant contribution to promoting Italy’s extensive network of archives of artists, 20th-century critics and photography.

A process aimed at enhancing archives of artists, 20th-century critics and photography.
The Project
Why?
The aim is to offer tangible support for the digital transition in the culture and creativity sector, through a series of activities and tools such as technical round tables, interviews, focus groups and networking opportunities, particularly targeting younger operators, women and those belonging to socially disadvantaged groups.
The type of activities envisaged and the training content – in person and online – that will be delivered throughout the process will enable BAM! to offer its expertise in the area of digitisation and communication, as well as to support partners in monitoring activities and evaluating the impact of the process.
How?
As part of the process, BAM! will deal specifically with:
- Call for applications: we will contribute to publicising the call that will be used to award six study grants for the theoretical and practical training of ARCHIVISTS 4.0. The selected figures will be able to improve their digitisation skills, thanks to the use of innovative methods during a 20-month training period and hands-on experimentation, involving an exchange of skills, best practices and the use of shared tools.
- MOOCs: five massive open online courses (MOOCs) lasting 2 hours and 40 minutes will be implemented on an online platform. The topics addressed will be defined on the basis of what emerged from the focus groups and additional insights and needs that emerged in the dialogue between the project leader, project partners and the project’s target organisations/subjects. The release is planned for June 2025.
BAM! will be responsible for MOOC #3, “Networks”, and MOOC #5, “Communication”. - International training in the management and promotion of digital archives: BAM! will assist partners and participants in planning, coordination, facilitation and monitoring/assessment.
